Sergers & Overlock Machines

A serger — also called an overlock machine or “surger” — trims, stitches, and finishes a seam in one pass, giving you the clean, stretch-friendly edges you can’t get from a regular sewing machine. If you sew knits, activewear, or anything that needs a professional finish, a serger belongs next to your sewing machine, not instead of it.

We carry Baby Lock sergers almost exclusively, and for good reason. Baby Lock has been building sergers since the 1960s, and two features set them apart from nearly everything else on the market:

**Air-threading** – instead of hand-threading 3–5 spools through loopers, a burst of air pushes the thread through automatically. What used to take ten frustrating minutes takes seconds.

**Automatic Thread Delivery (ATD)** – a fully mechanical system (no electronics) that senses and adjusts thread tension in real time, so you’re not fighting with tension dials every time you switch fabric or thread type.

Air-threading alone starts around $999. Air-threading with ATD starts around $1,499. If your budget is under $1,000, our Juki sergers are a strong alternative — Juki’s background in industrial overlockers gives them an edge at the entry-level and mid-price points.
